I love to talk. I love to say what I think and to comment on things I observe. Friends do not always appreciate this, to say the least. Singaporean friends file my observations along a broad spectrum, from offensive to stating the obvious to weird to interesting and insightful. Usually most of my observations are filed towards the former end of the spectrum than the latter.
Foreign friends don't particularly care either. Most observations are things they have noticed themselves, so it's not news, or else it's something they don't particularly care about. That's a slight dramatization, of course there's the odd comment I make that leads to an interesting conversation and discussions of cultural differences and the pros and cons of various international bureaucracies.
Friends back in my home country find some of my observations interesting and some unintelligible (MRT? Durian? ECP??).
So... I decided to start this blog! Like a Twitter feed, I don't expect anyone to listen, but I feel like recording my thoughts here in the hopes it satisfies my need to think about and comment on stuff out loud. It'll also make a nice diary. I am quite new to Singapore (only here a few months at time of writing) so I hope I'll be surprised by my impressions if I come back to this in a year or two and see what I used to (or still do) think of Singapore and it's locales and people :o)
Peace out!
